Yarveya’s music gives a scene another point of view rather than simply illustrating what is already visible. Yar and Veya are two distinct voices: a male baritone and a mature female vocal can occupy different sides of the same story, argue, answer one another or remain alone with what cannot be said in dialogue. That structure can support romance, but it also opens the catalogue to memory, choice, separation, return and the private decision that changes a character’s direction.

Part of the catalogue begins with poetry, yet the recordings are not period reconstructions. The album Silver Century brings poems by Maximilian Voloshin, Innokenty Annensky, Dmitry Merezhkovsky, Elizaveta Dmitrieva, Konstantin Balmont and Zinaida Gippius into a contemporary musical form. The poet is credited for every relevant track, while the status of the source text and the available scope of rights are reviewed for the territory of each production.

The Russian cultural character comes through language, imagery and melodic phrasing rather than decorative folklore.
